Zur philosophischen Bedeutung eines revolutionären Projekts

In Reaktion auf die totalitären Verbrechen und den Zweiten Weltkrieg greift bald nach 1945 eine weltpolitisch revolutionäre Vision um sich: Die Vereinten Nationen verpflichten sich auf universelle Menschenrechte, die allen Menschen weltweit ein mindestens menschenwürdiges Leben ermöglichen sollen. Diese völkerrechtliche Idee entspringt dem Gedankenexperiment einer demokratischen Neugründung politischer Machtverhältnisse, die nicht in Willkürherrschaft oder unmenschliche Diskriminierung umschlagen dürfen. Lange war dieses revolutionäre Projekt auf dem Siegeszug, es gerät jedoch neuerdings unter autoritären Druck, und selbst in der wissenschaftlichen Debatte werden immer häufiger relativistische oder gar höhnische Abgesänge laut. Um an dieses historisch fragile, aber ungebrochen dringliche Erbe zu erinnern, legt Arnd Pollmann eine umfassende philosophische Deutung und Begründung des Zusammenhangs von Menschenrechten und Menschenwürde vor.
