Joe wird's schon schaffen – eine faszinierende Geschichte für Kinder von Aviva Lipstein Die Geschichte handelt von dem manchmal schwierigen Wechsel vom Kindergarten in die Grundschule. Ein kleiner Junge aus London verläßt die behagliche Atmosphäre des Kindergartens und wird mit den Herausforderungen der „großen“ Schule konfrontiert. Die Handlung spielt in England, kann aber auch sehr leicht dem kulturellen Hintergrund eines anderen Landes angepaßt werden. Das illustrierte Buch ist gebunden und hat 40 Seiten. Die Autorin wuchs in Frankreich auf, wurde von Dominikanischen Nonnen während des zweiten Weltkriegs versteckt und ausgebildet und kam nach dem Krieg nach Israel. Sie studierte Sozialwissenschaften in Jerusalem und arbeitete in Tel Aviv mit Kindern bis zu ihrer Pensionierung. 1994 ist Aviva Lipstein in Tel Aviv gestorben. La autora, Aviva Lipstein , que falleció en 1994, creció en Francia, en Paris y Niza en la riviera francesa. Durante la segunda guerra mundial, fue protegida y educada por monjas dominicanas, y después de la guerra se asentó en el nuevo estado de Israel. La señora Lipstein se graduó en trabajo social en la universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén y hasta su jubilación trabajó con niños pequeños. Vivió en Tel Aviv, se casó y tuvo dos hijos y una hija, como también un nieto – todos ellos fueron evocados en sus cuentos.

A new architecture of regulatory enforcement

This book explores the emergence of a new architecture of corporate enforcement in Ireland. It is demonstrated that the State has transitioned from one contradictory model of corporate enforcement to another. Traditionally, the State invoked its most powerful weapon of state censure, the criminal law, but was remarkably lenient in practice because the law was not enforced. The contemporary model is much more reliant on cooperative measures and civil orders, but also contains remarkably punitive and instrumental measures to surmount the difficulties of proving guilt in criminal cases. Though corporate and financial regulation has become an area of significant interest for academics, researchers and those with an interest in corporate affairs, this sudden surge of interest lacks a tradition of scholarship or any deep empirical and contextual analysis in Ireland. This book provides that foundation. It is likely to stimulate an extensive conversation on corporate regulation and governance in Ireland. It is also likely to provide a platform for researchers further afield with an interest in comparative study with Ireland. ;

It reveals how white worker identity was constituted, examines the white labouring class as an ethnically and nationally heterogeneous formation comprised of both men and women, and emphasises the active participation of white workers in the ongoing and contested production of race. White wage labourers' experiences, both as exploited workers and as part of the privileged white minority, offer insight into how race and class co-produced one another and how boundaries fundamental to settler colonialism were regulated and policed. Based on original research conducted in Zimbabwe, South Africa and the UK, this book offers a unique theoretical synthesis of work on gender, whiteness studies, labour histories, settler colonialism, Marxism, emotions and the New African Economic History.

Marguerite Duras wurde am 4. April 1914 in der ehemaligen französischen Kolonie Gia Dinh, dem heutigen Vietnam als Marguerite Donnadieu geboren und starb am 3. März 1996 in Paris. Sie besuchte das Lycée Français in Saigon und machte 1931 Abitur. Ein Jahr später siedelte die Familie nach Paris um, wo sie an der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Paris und an der École des Sciences Politiques studierte. Von 1935 bis 1941 arbeitete sie als Sekretärin im Ministère des Colonies. 1939 heiratete sie Robert Antelme. Beide waren ab 1940 in der Résistance aktiv. Antelme wurde später ins Konzentrationslager Dachau deportiert. 1943 erschien ihr Debütroman Les Impudents (Die Schamlosen) unter dem Pseudonym Marguerite Duras, welchem keine besondere Aufmerksamkeit in der Öffentlichkeit zuteil kam. Mit Un Barrage contre le Pacifique (Heiße Küste), das 1950 erschien, hatte Duras größeren Erfolg. Sie schrieb nicht nur Romane, sondern verfasste auch Theaterstücke und trat als Filmregisseurin in Erscheinung.

Filme für den SDR

Berühmt wurde Samuel Beckett als Theaterinnovateur (Warten auf Godot) und Romancier (Der Namenlose), der Literaturnobelpreisträger schrieb jedoch auch Hörspiele und inszenierte Kurzfilme für das Fernsehen. 1966 produzierte er für den Süddeutschen Rundfunk (SDR) im Rahmen der Reihe »Der Autor als Regisseur« das Fernsehspiel He Joe und schuf damit ein revolutionäres Stück Medienkunst. Bis 1986 folgten sieben weitere »crazy inventions«, wie Beckett seine TV-Arbeiten nannte. Immer wieder erprobt er, von den technischen Möglichkeiten des Theaters zunehmend enttäuscht, neue Arrangements für Stimme und Schweigen, für Raum, Kamera und Musik. Damit erfand Beckett, so Gilles Deleuze in dem Essay Erschöpft, neben den Sprachen des Romans und der Theaterstücke eine »Sprache III«: »Das Entscheidende beim Bild ist nicht sein kläglicher Inhalt, sondern die wahnsinnige Energie, die jederzeit explodieren kann.«

Four Saints in Three Acts by Gertrude Stein and Virgil Thomson was a major avant-garde phenomenon of the 1930s, an experimental opera that nonetheless achieved remarkable popular success. Photography was a key element of that success, but its complex roles in the construction, representation and dissemination of the opera have hitherto received little critical attention. The photographic recording of the all-African American cast in particular affords a unique insight into the complexities of Four Saints in relation to the Harlem Renaissance and the New York avant-gardes of the time. This book, published in collaboration with The Photographers' Gallery, London, presents a wide selection of photographs of the cast, performances, and other material - many images reproduced for the first time - alongside essays by an international range of scholars exploring different aspects of the opera, including dance, fashion, music, and avant-garde writing, as well as photography.
