        Estepicursor (Steppicursor)

        by Marcelo Vera

After the collapse of her life as a couple and the breakdown of her expectations and projects, she desperately needs a place, something or someone to hold onto so as not to remain like a rolling plant at the mercy of the wind. With a simple, profound prose and full of references to popular culture, the Argentine author Marcelo Vera continues to deepen the narrative of the loss. After the publication of his first novel, Solo, and the poem El glitter de los solitarios, he experiments with the loneliness of a separation, the failure of motherhood and the fragility of illusion.

        The Life

        by Oleg Sentsov

The Life is a collection of autobiographical stories. This is a book for everyone who has not yet found answers as to why Oleg was assisting Ukrainian soldiers in Crimea, why he spoke openly about the war in Ukraine initiated by Russia, and why he went on a hunger strike and didn’t request clemency. These stories acquaint us with the author during a period of internal searching and transformation that was important to him, when he was trying to understand who he was and which path he will take further and never give it in. The collection is the first publication of Oleg Sentsov’s writings in Ukrainian, with the translation presented side by side with the original Russian texts. Life is an extremely important book for Oleg, and even while imprisoned, he took an active part in its publication.

        The Crescent over Kinburn

by Yuliia Stakhivska (Author), Oleksandra Bolotova (Author)

Two boys look at the crescent moon in the sky: Orkhan sees in it a Muslim symbol, and young Petrus — a Cossack chaika (boat). The events of The Crescent over Kinburn date back to the time when there were constant clashes between the Christian and Muslim worlds on the Kinburn Foreland near the Black Sea. Everyone has their own truth and their own path to freedom, so this story teaches mercy and acceptance because the path of revenge and violence can only bring more offence and mistrust in the world.     From 5 to 8 years, 4819 words Rightsholders: a.makhnyk@portalbooks.com.ua

        CO2 - World Without Tomorrow

        by Roth, Tom

CO2. A WORLD WITH NO TOMORROW is a fast-paced science thriller. For this story, Tom Roth takes movements such as Fridays for Future and the increasingly radical protests for climate change as his inspiration and point of departure. It seems that increasing numbers of people see themselves justified in resorting to radical measures in their efforts to save the planet and the future of humanity (children). And for the first time in history, the movement is emanating primarily from children and young people – whose future is at stake. Twelve children from twelve nations are kidnapped. They’ve been participating in a climate camp in Australia. From now on, one child will die every week unless the international community meets certain demands of the kidnappers for climate protection. As mankind waits with bated breath in anticipation of the first ultimatum expiring, the governments of the countries concerned are fighting over solutions. It soon becomes clear that this race is about much more than the lives of individuals, and that time knows no mercy. A topical issue of our times, highly emotional For readers of Marc Elsberg and Andreas Eschbach English outline and sample translation available

A SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN KILINSKI PARK

        by Arieh Stav

There were rumors; a smell of fear in the air. And yet, it all happened with incredible suddenness. The Soviets were abandoning the city; the Germans were at the gates. Mera Stollar grabbed her baby and ran for her life. From that day on, her life became an odyssey of flight and survival. Thanks to her son’s Aryan appearance (as long as he did not lower his pants…), her resourcefulness and wisdom, they escaped from the city after the murder of its Jewish inhabitants. Without documents, the mother and child wandered among the back lanes of Occupied Poland under the guise of Polish refugees, until they reached Warsaw. On the way, they endured the ever present fear of capture, hunger, cold, illness and the cruelty and indifference of people; but there are also instances of compassion and mercy. Their flight is accompanied by many dangers and threats. They are thrown into the street by a Christian family for having crossed themselves left-handed; a Ukrainian informer turns them in to the police – meaning transport to Treblinka; the convoy is bombed and on the first day of the Liberation, Mera is found guilty of collaborating with the German enemy, a sin carrying a sentence of execution. A SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN KILINSKI PARK also tells the stories of Rocheleh, thrown into prison over a pair of boots; Stiepan the Ukrainian policeman whose love for Vera does not prevent him from murdering her entire family; of Lieber, protected by his father’s corpse in the Susenki killing pits; Sonia the convert, who was not saved by the crucifix she wore on her throat; Granny Jadzia, the Pole who was prepared to sacrifice her life for Libi, whom she loved like a grandchild; Alex and Irena, the two Ukrainian circus artists who, ironically, come under Mera’s protection; and Rudolph, the German paratrooper whose courtship and love for Mera lead to disillusion.   Arieh Stav was born in 1939 in Rovno, Poland at that time, Ukraine today. In 1951, he made aliyah with his mother. He was educated at Kibbutz Givat Haim, served in the IDF as a paratrooper and was a member of the Kibbutz until 1963, when he left and moved to Tel Aviv. He studied psychology, philosophy and drama at Tel Aviv University. Arieh Stav is the Director of the Ariel Center for Policy Research, a non-partisan organization devoted to inclusive research and discussion of political and strategic issues concerning Israel and the Jewish people. Stav is the editor of Nativ, a bi-monthly periodical on politics and the arts, author and editor of numerous books and research studies. He has translated (to Hebrew) and published numerous volumes of epic poems which were written throughout the ages and in a myriad of languages.
