Arachne Press

Award winning Short Stories, Poetry, and Carnegie Nominated YA Novel.

United Kingdom

Arachne Press is a micro publisher of (award-winning!) short story anthologies, poetry and a (Carnegie Medal nominated!) young adult novel. We are expanding our range all the time, but the short form is our first love. We keep fiction (poetry, non-fiction) live, through readings, our regular event The Story Sessions, workshops and all things to do with writing.

So far we have published three collaborations with Liars' League: London Lies, Weird Lies winner of 2014 Saboteur Best Anthology Award) and Lovers' Lies; plus one collection of Short stories, Mosaic of Air by Cherry Potts, and two other short story anthologies, Stations (our best seller) and Solstice Shorts. On the Poetry front we have one collection The Don't Touch Garden by Kate Foley, and one anthology: The Other Side of Sleep: Narrative Poems. And finally we have two novels - Carnegie Nominated YA novel Devilskein & Dearlove by Alex Smith, and (forthcoming Feb2016) The Dowry Blade by Cherry Potts.

We try to be imaginative in our events and marketing, and recently produced an animated trailer, and have hosted an art exhibition for our cover artists – occasionally we have live music at our events too. In December we ran our first Solstice Shorts, a one day festival of short stories and folk music on  the shortest day of the year, on the Greenwich Meridian, with generous support from the Arts Council and a lot of friends.
