How to read XMAS in Spanish? X more? Ksmas? Chmas? And what do we understand when we actually read it? XMAS Stories groups seven Christmas-themed stories with X themes: an unknown, a prohibition, something with pornographic content, an indeterminacy, a substitution, a Roman numeral ... All those "X" themes in a "mas" "más" version. Some of the inhabitants of this space are: an individual who flees from the cold in search of healing human warmth; a sixty-year-old in love with the Magi; a friar who finds peace lecturing a community of settlers and indigenous people; an “it” girl housewife on the boil before her Christmas party preparations; a Santa Claus by accident, the protagonist of an untraditional tale; a young woman thirsty for a good love story; and a resident of the Big Apple hungry for Christmas revenge. The characters and voices in these stories, framed in a festive and celebratory atmosphere, and sheltered by everything that Christmas supposedly entails, propose heterodox realities as the only way to a new birth.

Mit einem gemischten Raum-Zeit-Ansatz ist dieses Werk eine Annäherung an die Entwicklung der deutschen Operationsdoktrin von der Neuzeit 1870 bis zum Zweiten Weltkrieg (1944), angesiedelt in den belgischen Ardennen, durch die Befehlshaber wie Derfflinger, Ziethen, Seydlitz und Blücher bis hin zu Balck, Rommel, Guderian und Manteuffel gehen. Es analysiert die Entstehung und Entwicklung der operativen Doktrin (Bewegunskrieg) von Marschall Helmuth Graf von Moltke, von Schlieffen, Seekt und Manstein, und wie diese Generäle sie in die Praxis umsetzten (Auftragstaktik). Darüber hinaus werden mehrere historisch diskutierte Themen und deren aktueller Stand behandelt, wie z.B. die Revision des Schlieffenplans, der britische Einfluss auf die deutsche Panzerdoktrin, die Entstehung der deutschen Panzerdoktrin in der Zwischenkriegszeit und die operative Betrachtung der historisch vernachlässigten Ardennenoffensive von 1944. Das Werk ist nicht erschöpfend, sondern eine Annäherung an das Studium der deutschen Doktrin in der Neuzeit durch ein neuartiges Doppelprisma von Zeit und Raum. Using a mixed space-time approach, this work is an approach to the evolution of German operational doctrine from the Contemporary Era of 1870 to the Second World War (1944), set in the Ardennes, Belgium, through which commanders such as Derfflinger, Ziethen, Seydlitz and Blücher to Balck, Rommel, Guderian and Manteuffel pass. It analyses the birth and development of the operational doctrine (Bewegunskrieg) of Marshal Helmuth Graf von Moltke, von Schlieffen, Seeckt and Manstein, and how these generals put it into practice (Auftragstaktik). It also includes several topics of historical debate and their current status, such as the revision of the Schlieffen Plan, the British influence on German armoured doctrine, the birth of German armoured doctrine in the inter-war period, and the operational consideration of the historically neglected Battle of the Bulge in 1944. The work is not exhaustive, but rather an approach to the study of German doctrine in the modern era through a novel dual prism of time and space.

Infancia y abandono en la Barcelona del siglo XV

Este libro explica cómo fue el abandono de niñas y niños en la Barcelona del siglo XV, deteniéndose en tres etapas esenciales: la escena del abandono, el cuidado de los lactantes en manos de nodrizas y el aprendizaje en casas ajenas. En cada fase se revisan las condiciones de integración y marginación, la presencia de lo femenino y los relatos de amores y desamores. Las historias que aquí se recogen permiten comprender las diferentes dimensiones del abandono, acto que involucraba no solo a los infantes expuestos, sino también a su entorno. Los niños en su mayoría eran abandonados en las puertas del Hospital de la Santa Creu de Barcelona durante las horas menos transitadas para evitar el juicio social. Las cartas que acompañaban a los infantes reflejan el drama de la pobreza y, por ende, la incapacidad forzosa de las madres para asumir el rol de la crianza. Al reconstruir el contexto de la época, el lector tiene la posibilidad de realizar un ejercicio de empatía que vuelve el foco de atención al presente. Es inevitable percibir las duras realidades que se mantienen a lo largo del tiempo y el casi irreparable sufrimiento que causa la soledad en los primeros años de vida.
