About Religiousness, Philosophy and Culture
“Undoubtedly, philosophy had deep impact on my thoughts and ideas. It also affected the way of my early living. I was deeply interested in the different points of view and ideologies between different philosophers, without being allied to any of them.” This statement by Mahfouz forms the cornerstone of this collection where he expressed his ideas about extremism, philosophy and culture. He believes a corrupted country is not so considered due to thousands of corrupted people living in it. The corrupted country, is the country that neglects the existence of just one corrupted person. It was mentioned before that extremism goes back to the severe torment, agony and bad treatment in prisons, and the sense of frustration youth are suffering; which is not, almost, true! Extremism and terrorism are the two sides of corruption. Extremists and terrorists believe they are purifying the society to regain its equilibrium. In the past, they were compelled to go through the path of violence, since there was no political opposition to express their points of view. But now, they have no reason to go through that path of violence. There is a room for numerous political parties and freedom.
