        Rebellische Frauen - Women in Battle

        150 Jahre Kampf für Freiheit, Gleichheit, Schwesterlichkeit. Graphic Novel

        by Marta Breen, Jenny Jordahl, Nora Pröfrock

        Marta Breen, in ihrer Heimat Norwegen einer der profiliertesten Feministinnen, und Jenny Jordahl, preisgekrönte Illustratorin, geben mit befreiendem Humor und erfrischenden Illustrationen einen neuen Blick auf Frauen unserer Geschichte, darunter Rosa Luxemburg, Emmeline Pankhurst, Sojourner Truth, Margaret Sanger und Malala Yousafzai. Hier werden engagiert, leichtfüßig und pointiert die Geschichten all der furchtlosen Frauen erzählt, die seit über 150 Jahren und bis heute leidenschaftlich für die Rechte der Frauen auf der ganzen Welt kämpfen: Für das Recht, zu wählen. Für das Recht über den eigenen Körper zu bestimmen. Für das Recht, zu leben wie, und zu lieben, wen man will. Und für wirtschaftliche Unabhängigkeit, für Bildung und Beruf. Eine kraftvolle Hommage an den Mut und den Willen der Frauen, die für ihre Rechte kämpfen und gekämpft haben. Und ein Appell dafür, weiterhin zu kämpfen!

        Die Handvoll Sand

        Gedichte aus dem Nachlaß

        by Karl Krolow, Charitas Jenny-Ebeling, Karl Krolow, Charitas Jenny-Ebeling

        »Als ginge es um eine Wette, / wie lange man noch vorhanden« – mit diesen Worten beschrieb Karl Krolow, was ihm gegen Ende seines Lebens geschah: Bis kurz vor seinem Tod am 21. Juni 1999 schrieb er oft mehrere Gedichte an einem Tag, über 700 in drei Jahren, 150 Gedichte allein in den letzten zwei Lebensmonaten. Die »tägliche Buchung«, wie er dieses Schreiben nannte, war ihm lebensnotwendig in einem ganz elementaren Sinn: es galt, sich der eigenen Existenz zu vergewissern und dem Tod – von Wort zu Wort und von Zeile zu Zeile – zu widerstehen. Es sind die Freuden des Lebens, die er, Abschied nehmend, noch einmal aufrief.

        by Anthony Jackson, Jenny Kidd

Inspiring and challenging in its scope and level of debate, Performing Heritage crosses the disciplines of performance and museum/heritage studies and offers remarkable and timely insights into the processes, outcomes and potential of this rich and rapidly developing practice - and in a variety of international contexts. The book productively brings together academic research and professional practice, and will be essential reading for all those interested in, and concerned with the future of, 'heritage' and its interpretation. ;

        Kick-Ass Women

        52 wahre Heldinnen

        by Mackenzi Lee, Jenny Merling

        Die Weltgeschichte kennt kaum Heldinnen, meint man(n). Ist aber Quatsch. Denn das, was als Weltgeschichte gilt, wird von alten, weißen Männern entschieden. Und die haben ein Faible für ihresgleichen. Oder schon mal von der mächtigsten Verbrecherkönigin New Yorks gehört? Oder der russischen self-made Panzerkommandeurin auf Nazi-Jagd? Von der Jiu-Jitsu-Suffragette, der gefährlichsten Piratin der Weltmeere, der … nein? Komisch. Dieses Buch versammelt 52 sagenhafte Heldinnen und ihre wahren Geschichten – actionreich, informativ und ein schillernder Appell an alle Frauen, nie an der eigenen Großartigkeit zu zweifeln.

        International law in Europe, 700–1200

        by Jenny Benham

        Was there international law in the Middle Ages? Using treaties as its main source, this book examines the extent to which such a system of rules was known and followed in the period 700 to 1200. It considers how consistently international legal rules were obeyed, whether there was a reliance on justification of action and whether the system had the capacity to resolve disputed questions of fact and law. The book further sheds light on issues such as compliance, enforcement, deterrence, authority and jurisdiction, challenging traditional ideas over their role and function in the history of international law. International law in Europe, 700-1200 will appeal to students and scholars of medieval Europe, international law and its history, as well as those with a more general interest in warfare, diplomacy and international relations.
