Sie gilt heute als eine der wichtigsten ungarischen Schriftstellerinnen. Ihr Roman Hinter der Tür wurde in 36 Sprachen übersetzt. Hans-Henning Paetzke, geboren 1943 in Leipzig, absolvierte eine Schauspielausbildung, bevor er in Halle, Budapest und Frankfurt am Main klassische Philologie, Germanistik und Psychologie studierte. Seit 1968 ist er freiberuflich als literarischer Übersetzer, Herausgeber und Autor tätig. Hans-Henning Paetzke lebt in Budapest.

Das Muster ist immer das gleiche: Ein Mann, einkommensstark, nicht reich, wird vor seinem Auto zusammengeschlagen, weggeschafft. Anruf bei der Frau, soll sofort alles zusammenkratzen, die Konten räumen, den Beutel dann in einen Mülleimer. Nach zwei, drei Stunden – heißt nun mal Expressentführung – ist alles wieder vorbei … Die Kommissarin Cornelia Weber-Tejedor ermittelt in einer Serie von Expressentführungen in Frankfurt, sie macht sich kaum Sorgen, irgendwann machen diese Stümper einen Fehler und dann werden sie eingebuchtet, da ist sie sich sicher. Beim nächsten Lösegeldanruf wird sie verständigt, gibt Instruktionen, doch als plötzlich ein Schuss zu hören ist und dann viel zu lange nichts, ist sich die deutsch-spanische Kommissarin nicht mehr so sicher. Es folgen: interne Ermittlung, Entzug des Falls, Zwangsurlaub. Und um sich selbst zu retten, muss Weber-Tejedor auf eigene Faust ermitteln, in einer Stadt voller Geld und Menschen, die einfach alles dafür tun.

In den Versuchen über ganz unterschiedliche Autoren wie Rahel Varnhagen, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Cesare Pavese, Elisabeth Langgässer, Lena Christ, Sylvia Plath u. a. umreißt Ursula Krechel das Feld, das sich zwischen den literarischen Texten, der Geschlechtsidentität seines Verfassers oder seiner Verfasserin und der Rückbindung an die Beziehungsmuster, die durch das gegengeschlechtliche Elternmuster geprägt sind, ergibt und das literarische Werk bis in die letzten Elemente seiner Struktur prägt. Nicht um eine biographische Reduktion des Literarischen geht es ihr, sondern um das Spiel der frühesten kreativen Lernprozesse, als das sich der Texte in seiner Ästhetik und seiner sprachlichen Gestaltung erweist.
