Zu entdecken sind prophetische Analysen, die Elend und Schrecken des triumphierenden Kapitalismus im Voraus zur Sprache bringen. Der Band legt eine Auswahl bekannter und weniger bekannter Texte Heiner Müllers zum Kapitalismus vor. Die Gliederung orientiert sich an fünf grundlegenden Aspekten der Kritik, die das Gesamtwerk durchziehen: die Dialektik des Kapitals, der Affekt des Ekels, die Kritik der Sprache, die Frage der Religion, die Permanenz des Krieges. Eingeleitet werden die einzelnen Kapitel jeweils durch ein kurzes Vorwort, das einen möglichen Zugriff auf die Texte eröffnen soll. Es geht darum, der Chance, die Heiner Müller als Dialektiker noch in der völligen »Ratlosigkeit des Denkens« erkannt hat, einen Denkraum zu geben.
