RACKET BOY - WHERE'S MY COUNTRY

        by Philip George, Geetha K

Do you marvel at people who seemingly have it all only to drop everything for life in a remote village? Have you wondered about leaving your roots for migration to the unknown?  ‘Fit only for climbing coconut trees.’ The mockery invented by Philip’s father because he was badminton-mad and useless (said father) at all else, lingered with him through school in Malaysia. It travelled with him on an Aeroflot to England in 1970, aged 18, functioning onadrenaline. It stuck through his navigation of parochial middle England – caring for patientsin a mental hospital, law practice, sports, and relationships.  Toughened by an Indian father and a Chinese coach, lifted by a messiah-like Englishman and grounded by a Labrador soulmate, Racket Boy – Where’s My Country, explores Philip’s life over six decades. From being ordered by the British government to leave England, accosted in Bombay, mugged in Barcelona to horse-trading with a petroleum giant in Ecuador and thrilling in a World Cup in military-ruled Argentina, to list a few highlights.    Philip is now a spectator in the hills of Tuscany, more than just fit to be climbing coconut trees!

        Im Schatten des Königs

        Die politische Anatomie demokratischer Repräsentation

        by Philip Manow

        Love's Victory

        Lady Mary Wroth

by Alison Findlay, Philip Sidney, Michael Brennan

Love's Victory by Lady Mary Wroth (1587-1651) is the first romantic comedy written in English by a woman. The Revels Plays publishes for the first time a fully-authorised, modern spelling edition of the Penshurst manuscript, the only copy of the play containing all five acts, handwritten by Wroth and privately owned by the Viscount De L'Isle. Edited by Alison Findlay, Philip Sidney and Michael G. Brennan, their critical introduction provides details of Wroth's remarkable life and work as a member of the Sidney family, tracing connections between Love's Victory, her prose and poetry and her family's extensive writings. The editors introduce readers to the influence of court drama on Love's Victory and offer a new account of the play's stage history in productions from 1999-2018. Extensive commentary notes guiding the modern reader include explanatory glosses, literary references and staging information.

        Competition and Succession in Pastures

by Edited by Philip Tow, Alec Lazenby

This book describes how competition between plant species, and succession in plant ecosystems, operate in grasslands and grazed pastures, both natural and sown. It discusses how competition both affects botanical structure, productivity and persistence of pastures and is itself regulated by biological, environmental and management factors, such as grazing animals. The book also examines the ways in which competition and succession are analysed, evaluated and measured, and brings to the agricultural arena the considerable progress made in understanding the principles of competition from theoretical and experimental ecology.

        Adorno

        Eine Bildmonographie

by Theodor W. Adorno Archiv, Henri Lonitz, Christoph Gödde, Gabriele Lieselotte Ewenz, Michael Schwarz

        by Philip Manow

        Sustainable Tourism in the Americas

by Edward W Manning, Luis Márquez

Sustainable Tourism in the Americas introduces the reader to the establishment of sustainable tourism across the region. It examines questions such as 'what is really meant by sustainable tourism?' Covered in eight chapters, the book discusses the evolution and application of the concept in the Americas from its origins as well as documenting established success stories of sustainable tourism policy and implementation from several countries in the Americas. The country and regional case studies critically examine what sustainable tourism means in their destination and address how in practice the concept of sustainability can be built to show results across different cultural and ecological situations ranging from local indigenous sites to urban environments. The book presents solid findings and includes content from: · research of academics and experiences of those working within the heritage setting; · recent criteria and indicators of sustainable tourism developed by GSTC and other standards, indicators and observatories work associated with UNWTO; · success stories of managing Western tourism destinations and applies relevant lessons to Americas; · Provides support to those who need to study and manage impacted destinations. It will be a valuable addition to the current lack of literature on this concept and of particular interest to those working within and studying tourism management and related themes.

        (Ent-)Demokratisierung der Demokratie

        by Philip Manow

Demokratie gegen Demokratie – illiberale gegen liberale, direkte gegen repräsentative Demokratie, vielleicht sogar »the people vs. democracy«?

        Biological Control in the Tropics

by Edited by Loke W Hong

Biological control has been central to many recent successful integrated pest management programmes. It is also the natural choice where protection of the environment is particularly important. This book reviews current knowledge of biocontrol programmes in the tropics, particularly in developing countries. It is based on papers presented at a symposium held in Malaysia in March 1999. Contributors include authorities from Europe, North America and Australia, as well as from South-East Asia.
