        Emerging Art in Ukraine

        by Lucia Bondar, Anna Avetova

Emerging Art in Ukraine is a book to be the first comprehensive publication about contemporary young art in Ukraine, that has flourished in the country in recent years. The authors named the project EMERGING ART since they are trying to demonstrate to the world the art of new age, young talents who each have an individual style, a specialised education, exhibition experience and promising creativity. And who grew up as both individuals and creative personalities alongside our country during its era of independence. Along with their works, the reader will find these artists’ biographies as well as their answers to questions exploring what art is for them and where they find inspiration; the manifestation of national identity in their works; changes in creativity during the war; and, of course, their hope for the future of Ukrainian art.

        Where the Wind Is

        by Lyubko Deresh

Max Tarnavskii is a young writer once recognized by the young audience for his debut novel about young counterculture but then scathingly criticized for his third novel "Where the Wind Is", — a philosophical parable about a hermit living in a lighthouse by the sea. Having fallen off the readers’ radar, he suffers through his inability to create any further. It’s the second half of the 2010s, Kyiv. On the New Year’s Eve Max gets an offer from Alisa, a first-year student, to go on a tour with a young rock band as a gonzo journalist to revive his counterculture icon status. Max balks at first, but an unexpected brawl on Facebook in which Max is reminded about his passivity during the Maidan and his uncertain ideological views in the days of the ATO and the war, and a critical review of Max’s new novel outline from his literary agent urge Tarnavskii to accept the offer after all. The rock band he joins for a tour from Western to Eastern Ukraine has turned up to be an inept group trip planner, so the protagonist has to take up the role of a leader capable of saving the band from a total fiasco. Traveling with the teenage freshmen becomes the young writer’s road to adulthood, forgiveness, and an attempt to forgive his own mistakes of youth in particular. Just to earn his living, Max agrees to perform with the rockers while on tour, flies in the face of his creative fears, and is forced to redefine himself as a writer once again. He faces the dangers of concert disruptions, the band split up, public disapproval, and threats of physical violence. Ability to write on the road becomes his only way to save and revive his own self, stand up to his hidden weaknesses, reconsider his role in a society that undergoes a war. A post-tour trip with Alisa to her grandmother who lives in a village on the liberated from the occupation territories becomes Tarnavskii’s hope for a renewal. On this trip Max gets a chance to full recovery, because in Tarnavskii’s mind these are the parts, where he will find the sand bar with the lighthouse where the hermit from his novel "Where the Wind Is" lives.

        Heidnische Mysterien in der Renaissance

by Edgar Wind, Christa Münstermann, Gisela Heinrichs, Bernhard Buschendorf, Bernhard Buschendorf, Bernhard Buschendorf

        Gene Flow

        Monitoring, Modeling and Mitigation

        by Wei Wei, Neal Stewart

Gene flow is a natural process that occurs spontaneously and enables the evolution of life. However, with the release of genetically modified organisms, concerns have focused on introduced foreign transgenes and their dispersal in nature through gene flow. This book examines gene flow of transgenes, such as herbicide resistance genes, with the goal of understanding the factors that may affect the process of gene flow. A greater biological understanding is essential to make sound management regulatory decisions when also taking into consideration the processes that happen in conventional plants. Monitoring, modelling, and mitigation are the three most closely related elements of gene flow. The book includes both scientific reviews and perspectives on gene flow and experimental case studies, including studies of gene flow in soybean and poplar. The authors present diverse views and research methodologies to understand transgene flow. This book: Focuses on applications of gene flow (monitoring, modelling, and mitigation); Includes both review chapters and case studies; Is written by international team of scientists currently working in gene flow. This book will be valuable for students and researchers in genetics, biotechnology, plant science, and environmental science. It also provides key insights of value to regulators of biotechnology as well as policy-makers.

        Nutrition and Feeding Organic Cattle

        by Robert Blair

Organic cattle farming is on the increase, with consumer demand for organic milk and meat growing yearly. Beginning with an overview of the aims and principles behind organic cattle production, this book presents extensive information about how to feed cattle so that the milk and meat produced meet organic standards, and provides a comprehensive summary of ruminant digestive processes and nutrition. Since the publication of the first edition, global consumers have increasingly become concerned with the sustainability of meat production. Here, Robert Blair considers the interrelationships of sustainable practices and profitability of organic herds, reviewing how to improve forage production and quality, and minimizing the need for supplementary feeding using off-farm ingredients. This new edition also covers: - Managing a recurrent shortage of organic feed ingredients, due to increased GM feed crop cultivation worldwide - Current findings on appropriate breeds and grazing systems for forage-based organic production - Diet-related health issues in organic herds and the effects of organic production on meat and milk quality. Required reading for animal science researchers, advisory personnel that service the organic milk and beef industries and students interested in organic milk and meat production, this book is also a useful resource for organic farming associations, veterinarians, and feed and food industry personnel.

        Free Flow To Eternity

        by Nili Yaffe

The book’s title attests to human will, as expressed in the poem “May the World Never End.” Throughout the book the writing is concise yet has depth to challenge the reader. Through the fast-pace writing, the reader is left with a sense of deep inspiration and is able to relate to the inventive poetry. There are mystical, ancient, and feminine aspects to the poems, which reflect hopes of humanity. The first part of the book contains poems about searching for a path and the latter part contains poems of resolution. Another theme found in a few patriotic poems merges with a universal aspiration for a life of peace and comradeship, which elevates them above time and place. The poems “Destruction” and “End” foresee an apocalyptic future of a universe in which there is nothing left to fight for. Alternatively, there are “The End of Days” poems, such as “And It Shall Come to Pass after Many Days.” The last poem, “The Secret Wishes in Dreams,” seals the collection with birth, describing it as the most significant experience both men and women have during their lifetime. It is about all human hopes, which are realized in the process of birth, where light envelops the infant and those around him. Free Flow to Eternity comes alive through the reader’s emotions and Imagination. A English langaue e-Boojk edition was published in fall 2014 by Sanuel Wachtman's Sons 2014, Inc. , CA. 80 pages, 14. x 21 cm
