Instead, the writer tells a story of her own life from a personal view as a chid, during that period. With the gentle strokes of an artist, the author paints the scenery of her childhood in Nazi-occupied Poland, from age three to six, describing events as she perceived them at the time from a child's point of view. Her peaceful and happy country life is crushed by the occupation of Nazi Germany. On a cold and rainy night, our heroine evades the firing squad that annihilates most of her family; her mother joins the partisans, her father is deported to Auschwitz, and she finds herself all alone, hidden in a wicker basket, with a Christian peasant family. After liberation and an incredible reunion with her mother, in an attempt to rehabilitate life, the child becomes the mother and is forced to mature instantly. She takes responsibility for her mother and herself in a daily struggle to survive. Then, an impossible surprise strikes! The purpose of this book is to deliver a message to children who were abused, in any way, not to give in, not to lose hope—the sun will rise tomorrow! Irit Dror-Reytan was born on September 22, 1939, in Boryslav, Poland. After the war she lived in Waldenburg, Poland, until 1950 when her family immigrated to Israel. She was educated in Tabeetha Jaffa, a Church of Scotland school. The Author completed her studies at the Israel Conservatory of Music in Tel Aviv. She received a B.A. from Queens College in New York and a Master’s degree in psychology from Lesley University in Boston. Irit taught music and English for many years. For the last twenty years, she has been treating IDF soldiers suffering from PTSD. The author has four children, seven grandchildren and lives with her husband in Israel. 128 Pages, 15X22.5 CM

The first half of the book compares the Spanish, Dutch and the First and Second British world orders. It identifies their common features in order to find the most salient causes for their rise as world powers, and the most probable reasons for their decline. The second half of the book addresses the American world order in the 20th century, from Pax Americana to the End of US Hegemony. The author sees the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the resurgence of the US as evidence of the role played by normative dimensions, commonly underestimated in International Relations analysis. Theoretically challenging, Knutsen's volume provides a fresh approach to debates in international relations aimed at both students and scholars.

Egypt and the rise of fluid authoritarianism focuses on the struggle of the post-2013 political authorities for internal political legitimacy after the crisis following the 2013 coup d'état. It explores the microstructural and macro-systemic dynamics of leadership, power, protests and the authority-making process in political systems. These cannot simply be defined as structural, political, social and economic projections of the authoritarianism of the past, but rather as a rupture with that past. The book offers a complex, ground-breaking socio-political and economic analysis into how the forging of an internal political legitimacy claim has eventually modified the regime in Egypt along the authoritarian spectrum, turning into a fluid autocracy closer to a non-exclusivist personalist regime. The years 2021 to 2030 have been designated as "The United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration". Ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation efforts face unprecedented challenges, especially in developing countries and areas, such as the Hindu Kush-Himalayan (HKH) region. This huge HKH region, which includes areas in eight separate countries (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, India, China, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Bhutan), is a biodiversity hotspot with a vast array of ecosystems, landscapes, peoples and cultures. It is known as one of 'the pulses of the world'. However, the HKH is also the world's largest and poorest mountain region, where landscapes and environments have been severely damaged as a result of climate change and human activities. Coordinating conservation and restoration policies, sharing knowledge and funds, and maintaining livelihoods are major challenges and are in urgent need of improvement. This book details the past and current ecological problems in the HKH region, and the threats and challenges that ecosystems and local people face. It pays special attention to developments of transformative adaptations and presents examples of sustainable conservation and ecological restoration management practices. Three primary questions are addressed: (1) Do the existing conservation strategies of international organizations and government policies really protect ecosystems and solve biodiversity problems? (2) Can these management measures be one-time solutions? and (3) What is the strategic framework and scenario prognosis for the future based on the historical trajectory of ecological conservation and restoration in the region? This book is essential reading for ecologists and conservation biologists involved in large-scale ecological restoration projects, along with practitioners, graduate students, policy makers and international development workers.
