        Frog mother laid eggs and swam away. Little tadpoles were hatched and started their journey looking for their Mom. They met different creatures in the pond and asked around, “where is our mom? Are you our mom? ” They got disappointing answers until they saw the frog that was looking for her children. She said “Hi, babies, I am your mother.” Tadpoles could not believe her because they do not look like her. But in the end, they believed that they found their mom and then happily swam with her till they grew up — yes, till they turned into the form of frogs!

        Three Monks

        One Story a Week

        The story begins with a monk dutifully bringing water from a stream to his temple at the top of a mountain. A tall monk arrives, and when water is needed, he volunteers to fetch water to the delight of the first monk who doesn’t need to do anything. At the next water run, the second monk calls on the first to help. Reluctantly, he does, but the two bicker over how to balance the water bucket on the yoke given their height difference. A third, portly monk arrives at the temple. He selfishly guzzles all the water, but when the water is all gone, nobody is willing to head down the mountain to get water. Each would rather suffer than to do something that would benefit everybody. In the end, a murine arsonist creates a need for water so great that three petty monks are forced to work together.

        Long time ago, a scholar by the name of Dongguo was stopped by an injured wolf, which begged him to save its life from pursuing hunters. Dongguo hid the beast in his book bag and misdirected the hunters. The ungrateful wolf wanted to eat Dongguo as soon as it crept out of the book bag. Terrified, Dongguo tried to buy himself some time. He suggested that they consult three elders and let them decide if the wolf ought to eat Dongguo. Finally, an elderly man came to Dongguo's rescue, as he tricked the wolf back into the book bag and killed it.

After destroying all the monsters,he shot down the nine blazing suns keeping only one in the sky. Then,the mass could live a sta-ble life again. Yi became the hero eulogized by the later generations.

        Once upon a time there was an old man who lived near a fort in the north and owned a horse. One day the horse ran away to a northern barbarian nation. His neighbors pitied him. But the old man told them to wait and see id this misfortune could not lead to something good. And, indeed, one day the horse returned accompanied by a beautiful Mongol horse. The neighbors congratulated him.” Don’t be rash," said the old man,” this may yet bring misfortune." Sure enough, shortly afterwards his son was thrown off the new horse and became a cripple. When the neighbors condoled with him, the old man answered:” Who knows if this misfortune will not turn out happily?" Soon the Huns invaded the district, and all its young man were called up. Nine out of ten of these men were killed. The cripple, of course, stayed at home, and so the old man until death had a son to support him.
