Approximately 800 million people suffer from hunger, 2 billion from lack of micronutrients and more than 2 billion from excessive weight and obesity. There is renewed interest in reshaping agricultural and food systems at global, regional and national levels, so that poor and vulnerable people have access to nutritious sustenance. This book reviews research findings, results from on-the-ground programmes and interventions, and policy experiences from the past 5-10 years. It examines the direct and indirect effects of agriculture on nutrition, following the agricultural value chain to explore this complex relationship, from biodiversity and crop fortification, to programme evaluation, to the impact of agricultural policies on consumers' choices and actions. It explores the roles of various stakeholders along the chain including women and the private sector, and cross-cutting themes such as data and capacity building. Am Schluß der chronologisch nach dem Zeitpunkt des Entstehens geordneten Sammlung steht Immer noch nicht mehr, des Autors letzter Prosatext, geschrieben zwischen 1986 und 1988: fast Szene in der Reduziertheit des Raums und der Bewegungen; fast Gedicht in seinem Kreisen, Variieren, Wiederholen. »Eines Nachts als er den Kopf auf den Händen am Tisch saß sah er sich aufstehen und gehen.« Dante und der Hummer (so heißt die erste Erzählung aus Mehr Prügel als Flügel) macht alles, was in den Werken, in Einzelausgaben und sonst verstreut von Becketts kürzerer erzählender Prosa auf deutsch erschienen ist, zum ersten Mal in einem Band verfügbar -dazu drei kleine deutsche Erstveröffentlichungen: »Das Bild«, »weder noch« und »Wie soll man sagen«."

Alfred Tang had been a celebrity in martial arts circles: after starring in a number of martial arts films, he went on to build an international empire of prestigious martial arts academies. At first, Lucas tries to evade the proposal but ultimately accepts, prompted by his curiosity as well as his own secret dream of becoming a writer. Mrs. Tang hands him a set of boxes filled with material so that he can start his research. In one of the boxes Lucas finds a journal filled with notes, a tiny picture of the sixteenth-century Italian missionary Mateo Ricci, and a beautiful drawing of a library with books in all different colors. Bewildered by the discovery, Lucas enlists help from Tang’s daughter, who connects him to an old friend of her father’s, a university professor by the name of Yan. The professor tells Lucas that if he wishes to find the collection and learn more about Alfred Tang, he must call on the beautiful Vicky. To Lucas’ surprise she is still alive, living in Hong Kong. Lucas decides to visit her, and this short trip becomes the first step on a series of unforgettable events that will lead him through Asia and Europe, where his life will change in the quest to uncover the truth – about the books, about his martial arts master, and about history itself.
