Se trata de gente: una variedad de personajes de la Ciudad Vieja de Jerusalén por Harout Bedrossian Harout Bedrossian, joven escritor armenio de la Ciudad Vieja de Jerusalén, logra representar en esta novela compacta a una variedad de personajes de diversos ámbitos, que inesperadamente se interconectan y correlacionan a pesar de las distintas maneras que tienen de ver las cosas. Un joven con bajo cociente de inteligencia lucha por integrarse. A pesar de que se le considera una persona carente de emociones, de que la sociedad lo condena al ostracismo y de que su padre lo maltrata, se enamora y, para sorpresa de su madre, una mujer lo ama y también lo acepta. Un famoso atleta, que ha perdido la fama y ha caído en el anonimato, se siente revitalizado al conocer a una joven comprensiva y clemente. Un psiquiatra, que se topó con "el paciente equivocado" que le cambió totalmente la vida, se vio forzado a exilarse de Rusia y, en su nuevo país, se encuentra con una cultura totalmente diferente, mientras su pasado lo sigue atormentando. Un joven cristiano devoto, falsamente acusado y que acaba en prisión, sigue lleno de vida y esperanza, confía en el Señor y cree que todo lo que sucede en la vida debe tener un motivo. Una desafortunada víctima de violación aprende de nuevo a amar y otros varios personajes se descubren a sí mismos a través de sus interacciones con los demás. El autor no menciona la nacionalidad de la mayoría de los personajes involucrados, ya que sus problemas y dificultades son puramente humanos y universales, sean israelíes o palestinos, cristianos, musulmanes o judíos y sostiene que, esencialmente, debemos hacer frente a los mismos elementos humanos. El relato, que transcurre principalmente en Jerusalén, está inspirado en personas que la autora conoció a través de su labor profesional en visitas a hospitales psiquiátricos, que representan a la población diversa que sólo se encuentra en un país multicultural como Israel. Estos elementos humanos de la obra de Bedrossian quizá evoquen en la memoria del lector al célebre escritor estadounidense de origen armenio William Saroyan, que deleitó a millones con sus narraciones acerca de personas fracasadas decididas a triunfar. Harout Bedrossian nació en 1972 en Jerusalén, viajó a Florida en 1989 y obtuvo su bachillerato en un colegio secundario de West Palm Beach. Tras regresar a Jerusalén, comenzó a trabajar como ayudante de profesor y se licenció en psicología y criminología en la Universidad de Sudáfrica. Por el hecho de haber nacido y haberse criado en el seno de una familia armenia de Jerusalén, se ha visto expuesto a la cultura armenia, a la árabe y a la judía y habla con fluidez armenio, inglés, hebreo y árabe.

El presente volumen reúne una serie de textos escritos y publicados en las dos primeras décadas del siglo XXI, que abordan los problemas y objetos tradicionales de la semiótica fílmica y audiovisual, o que proponen nuevos objetos de indagación, nuevas preguntas. La primera parte está consagrada a las teorías generales, y en ella tiene preponderancia el denominado “giro cognitivo” de los estudios fílmicos, a partir de traducciones de textos inéditos en castellano: la teoría del flujo PECMA del investigador danés Torben Grodal; la semántica cognitiva aplicada a la interpretación audiovisual del británico Warren Buckland, o una nueva aproximación a la experiencia del espectador frente al dispositivo audiovisual por parte de Todd Oakley. En esta parte también se incluyen traducciones de dos textos de Roger Odin, pionero del enfoque semiopragmático, que permiten ver su pertinencia para abordar tanto problemas de la historia del cine y el audiovisual, como de sus manifestaciones contemporáneas.

What we now know as classic tales are oral stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. It is not known exactly when they appeared, what we do know is that in 1600 Charles Perrault gave them a literary form, tempering, in many cases, the harshness of the oral versions to adapt them to the times. 200 years later, Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm brothers (among others), would do the same by creating new stories and transforming those of Perrault to their time. Now, 200 years later, they are revised and updated again. This time, without princes or princesses, without stepmothers or witches. This time, they are the heroines and they don't need anyone to save them.

La presente exposición y los textos que la acompañan proceden de un proyecto de investigación-creación desarrollado por Mariana Dicker, María Alejandra Fajardo, Elkin Rubiano y Javier Gil. Esta exploración pretende pensar las relaciones entre creación artística y memoria a partir de la producción artística de Beatriz González de los últimos 20 años. Consideramos que las imágenes toman posición frente a lo real; no representan lo dado o lo sucedido, sino que lo crean y dimensionan desde sus particulares modos de pensar. Tampoco aspiran a explicaciones totalizantes; significan a través de momentos, fragmentos, detalles y relaciones inéditas. Lo visual toca lo real sin aspirar a verdades absolutas y cerradas, pero desde sus singularidades expresivas renueva la percepción y la comprensión del mundo. En ese contexto, consideramos que el trabajo de Beatriz González construye memoria, asumiendo que esta no se refiere a dar cuenta de hechos objetivos ocurridos en el pasado, sino como una construcción simbólica, un trabajo, una nueva dimensión de sentido vinculada a la creación artística. Sus obras confirman las posibilidades que tienen el arte de participar en la generación de otras historias, de hacer hablar el pasado de otro modo, de expresar lo inexpresado por la historia oficial.

However, since Christ is the same yesterday, today and always, the only and universal Salvator in history, theology, forced by Christ’s eschatological lordship, which does not despise any historical present as his own body, must look for new ways to offer today’s men and women the truth, beauty and goodness that are in store for all in God’s very depths. According to this logic, where the context becomes a provocation inviting faith and theology to be daring, the liturgical Christ reveals himself as the foundation of Christology, since it is the place where he displays his truth and living presence.

Aunque ignoradas en las historias literarias y culturales, durante los siglos XVI y XVII existieron en España decenas de mujeres que buscaron un espacio en el territorio de las letras. Después de más de treinta años de estudios especializados durante los cuales se han exhumado innumerables documentos y se han desarrollado y probado metodologías específicas para entender a las escritoras como mujeres integradas en su tiempo, es posible llegar a producir un libro como este. Esta historia y guía de investigación representa un avance radical en el conocimiento de las escritoras del Siglo de Oro, porque recoge los resultados más relevantes y los utiliza para configurar un panorama en el que la literatura escrita por las mujeres se plantea, por fin, bajo unos perfiles específicos. Se prescinde de la historia de las individualidades para mostrar en qué medida las escritoras dialogaron con su entorno y modularon los temas, los géneros o la retórica para responder a sus necesidades expresivas.

Juan el Bautista: historia y teología ("John the Baptist: History")

A pesar de la frecuencia con la que muchas personas escuchan mencionar a Juan Bautista en las liturgias y otras celebraciones, su figura permanece siendo un tanto desconocida o resulta enigmática. Sin embargo, su importancia en el Nuevo Testamento es incuestionable. Jesús le dedica el mayor halago que persona alguna haya recibido: "Les aseguro que, entre los nacidos de mujer, no ha aparecido uno mayor que Juan el Bautista…" (Mt 11,11); y el historiador Flavio Josefo emplea más espacio en el Bautista que en el propio Jesús. Pero, ¿quién fue verdaderamente Juan? ¿Fueron él y Jesús primos, como popularmente se dice, o solo parientes, como expresamente indica el evangelio de Lucas (1,36)? ¿Por qué se dejó bautizar Jesús por Juan con "un bautismo para el perdón de los pecados" (Mc 1,4) si él no tenía pecado? El presente estudio aborda estas y muchas otras interrogantes de carácter histórico pero también teológico sobre Juan Bautista, todavía hoy venerado en numerosos templos y liturgias alrededor del mundo como "el amigo del novio" (Jn 3,29). Despite the frequency with which many people listen to the mention of John the Baptist in liturgies and other celebrations, his figure remains largely unknown or proves enigmatic. Nevertheless, his importance in the New Testament is unquestionable. Jesus dedicates to him the highest praise anyone has ever been given: “Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist…” (Matthew 11:11); and the historian Flavius Josephus dedicates more space in the Baptist than in Jesus himself. But who really was John? Were he and Jesus cousins, as it is popularly said, or just relatives, as the Gospel of Luke 1:36) clearly states? Why did Jesus allow himself to be baptised by John with “a baptism for the forgiveness of sins” (Mark 1:4) if he was free from sin?
