        Under the Azure Sky

        by Shi Lei

This picture book tells a meaningful growth story through a boy and his father saving, raising, and releasing a pigeon. The boy rescued a wounded pigeon and looked after it carefully. When the pigeon recovered, the boy and his father began to train it to increase its flying distance from 30 kilometers to 80 kilometers and more. The story comes to an abrupt end after the climax, leaving a great deal of suspense for readers. It did not give a clear answer to where the pigeon finally went. Perhaps it went back to the free sky, since the sky is the real home for a flyer. The same is true of children's growth. Only after experiencing trials and hardships can they fly to their own stages of life.

        Royal Horses (1). Crown Heart

        by Jana Hoch

His world is that of the Royals – full of scandals and secrets. Falling in love with him was never part of her plan. Their paths cross at the royal stud farm... Greta just wants to get away: away from her school and away from the friends who have so endlessly disappointed her. The holiday job at the royal stud farm comes at just the right time for her. She might not have any interest in horses – and even less in princes and princesses – but the royal family’s palace still makes her heart beat faster. But on the very first day she quarrels with Edward, the horse trainer. He guesses that she is hiding a secret and wants to do whatever it takes to bring it out in the open. When, shortly afterwards, Prince Tristan appears at the stud farm, Greta’s life is completely turned upside down. She notices all too late that she is in the process of falling in love – and specifically with the boy that she actually wants to stay away from. Humorous and romantic, glamorous and exciting: ‘Royal Horses’ is the perfect love story for all readers from 12 to 99 years-old. Greta and Edward‘s story continues! Volume 2, ‘Crown Dream’ will be out in autumn 2020.

American correspondences in visual and verbal practices

by Edited by Catherine Gander, Sarah Garland

Offering a major contribution to the field of American culture and aesthetics in an interdisciplinary frame, this collection assembles the cutting-edge research of renowned and emerging scholars in literature and the visual arts, with a foreword by Miles Orvell. The volume represents the first of its kind: an intervention in current interdisciplinary approaches to the intersections of the written word and the visual image that moves beyond standard theoretical approaches to consider the written and visual artwork in embodied, cognitive and experiential terms. Tracing a strong lineage of pragmatism, romanticism, surrealism and dada in American intermedial works through the nineteenth century to the present day, the editors and authors of this volume chart a new and vital methodology for the study and appreciation of the correspondences between visual and verbal practices.
