International Committee for Conflict Mangagement (ICCM) - Arno Editions
ICCM is a charitable organization created in Brussels in 1994 by a group of human rights experts, university professors, civil society actors and representatives of women's and youth organizations concerned with sharing the experience acquired through their research, teaching, projects and humanitarian interventions in countries affected by conflicts in several regions of the world.The purpose of the organization is to promote the protection and promotion of human rights, peaceful resolution, prevention and transformation of conflicts.Thus, through training, research, publication and book distribution, ICCM, through its publishing house (Arno) contributes to the peaceful resolution, management and prevention of armed conflicts to mitigate their consequences on the civilian population.

Die ›Gegend‹, das ist das Land zwischen Meßkirch und Rast, zwischen der Stadt, die so berühmte Kinder wie den Philosophen Heidegger und das Bravo-Girl des Jahres 1971 die Ihren nennen darf, und dem Dorf, aus dem der Erzähler einst aufs Gymnasium nach Meßkirch geschickt wurde. Es ist ein Landstrich ohne Namen: ›Die Geographen sagen: oberes Ablachtal. Sie sind nicht ›hier‹ gewesen. Sie verteilen ihre Namen von der Karte aus. Die Bewohner von ›hier‹ wissen nicht, wo das obere Ablachtal ist.‹ Die wahren Namen der Gegend lauten Haarschneider Jakob, Pfarrer Haselmeier, Sauschneider Naze, Fräulein Hermle – und immer wieder Heidegger, wobei der Martin, von dem die Leute sagen, daß er ›irrsinnig g’scheit und unheimlich berühmt‹ war, nur einer von etlichen ist, die genauere Erwähnung finden. April 1991 fand unter dem Titel »Das Ende der großen Entwürfe und das Blühen systematischer Praxis« in Heidelberg ein interdisziplinärer Kongreß statt, der international bekannten Theoretikern der Kybernetik, Systemtheorie, Systemtherapie und anderer Bereiche Gelegenheit bot, angesichts des Zusammenbruchs vieler großer Entwürfe und einer nie dagewesenen Vielfalt konkurrierender Paradigmen ihre Konzepte und ihre Praxis zu diskutieren. Der vorliegende Band vereinigt die wichtigsten theoretischen Beiträge dieses Kongresses. Der gleichzeitig erscheinende Band Systemische Praxis, herausgegeben von Jochen Schweitzer, Arnold Retzer und Hans Rudi Fischer (stw 1033), dokumentiert die wichtigsten Beiträge aus dem Bereich systemischer Praxis.

This special issue of the Bulletin of the John Rylands Library is devoted to William Blake. It explores the British and European reception of Blake's work from the late nineteenth century to the present day, with a particular focus on the counterculture. Opening with two articles by the late Michael Horovitz, an important figure in the 'Blake Renaissance' of the 1960s, the issue goes on to investigate the ideological struggle over Blake in the early part of the twentieth century, with particular reference to W. B. Yeats. This is followed by articles on the artistic avant-garde and underground of the 1960s and on Blake's significance for science fiction authors of the 1970s. The issue closes with an article on the contemporary Belgian art collective maelstrÖm reEvolution.

The Romantic Vampire and its Progeny

John Polidori's novella The Vampyre (1819) is perhaps 'the most influential horror story of all time' (Frayling). Polidori's story transformed the shambling, mindless monster of folklore into a sophisticated, seductive aristocrat that stalked London society rather than being confined to the hinterlands of Eastern Europe. Polidori's Lord Ruthven was thus the ancestor of the vampire as we know it. This collection explores the genesis of Polidori's vampire. It then tracks his bloodsucking progeny across the centuries and maps his disquieting legacy. Texts discussed range from the Romantic period, including the fascinating and little-known The Black Vampyre (1819), through the melodramatic vampire theatricals in the 1820s, to contemporary vampire film, paranormal romance, and science fiction. They emphasise the background of colonial revolution and racial oppression in the early nineteenth century and the cultural shifts of postmodernity.
