This collection of documents in translation brings together the seminal sources for the late Merovingian Frankish kingdom. It inteprets the chronicles and saint's lives rigorously to reveal new insights into the nature and significance of sanctity, power and power relationships. The book makes available a range of 7th- and early 8th-century texts, five of which have never before been translated into English. It opens with a broad-ranging explanation of the historical background to the translated texts and then each source is accompanied by a full commentary and an introductory essay exploring its authorship, language and subject matter. The sources are rich in the detail of Merovingian political life. Their subjects are the powerful in society and they reveal the successful interplay between power and sanctity, a process which came to underpin much of European culture throughout the early Middle Ages.

Del siglo XVIII al XIX, las duras condiciones a las que fueron sometidos los esclavos negros llevaron a una creciente ola de revueltas de esclavos en las Américas, donde los fugitivos formaron comunidades cimarronas independientes en las Antillas francesas, españolas, británicas y holandesas, así como las comunidades quilombolas en Brasil y emprendieron guerras de guerrillas contra los amos y dueños de plantaciones, dando lugar a campañas contra la esclavitud en Europa y a la abolición de la esclavitud en las Américas. La capoeira fue el resultado de la experiencia diaspórica propia de Brasil, una rama de un gran árbol que creció hasta convertirse en un arte social único y complejo, que no se puede disociar de su perspectiva histórica y antropológica. La increíble historia de la Capoeira, escrita por el experto brasileño en capoeira Ricardo Mestre Cachorro, da a conocer la Era de la exploración y la trata de esclavos resultante y presenta la esclavitud africana ya en el siglo XV, mucho antes de que los esclavos negros fueran llevados al Nuevo Mundo. Feminism is a living phenomenon, but its history can and should be recorded. A number of serious works on the history of the women's movement and feminism have been published in Ukraine, but it is only recently that the history of Ukrainian feminism appeared in the form of a graphic novel. This book is our humble attempt to try and cover the vast history of Ukrainian feminism on a moderate number of pages. We have mentioned many outstanding personalities, but we have not mentioned even more names, for which we immediately apologise - after all, a lot has happened in 150 years and it’s hard to fit all into a relatively small graphic novel. This book may be of interest to those who have only recently become interested in feminism, as it is a brief introduction to the history of Ukrainian feminism. More experienced readers will be delighted to notice some additional details and stories to what they already know.
