This is a unique collection of two of the Inklings and their literary associates’ views on the negative impacts of technology in various areas of life and the resolution of these impacts through fellowship with others and faith in the Creator. Some of these essays offer suggestions on how ensnarement by social media and surrender to modern technology can be countered by surrender to God. Other essays also demonstrate how the significant literary craft of these authors can enchant readers and invite them into fairylands from which they return empowered and with a keener spiritual vision to tackle universal and present concerns.

Author Biography
Salwa Khoddam, PhD, is Professor Emerita of English at Oklahoma City University. She founded the C. S. Lewis in Inklings Society (CSLIS) and directed its first conference in Oklahoma in 1998 at OCU and again in 2003 and 2010. She assisted in editing Truths Breathed through Silver: The Inklings’ Moral and Mythopoeic Legacy (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2008) and C. S. Lewis and the Inklings: Discovering Hidden Truth (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2012). She also authored Mythopoeic Narnia: Memory, Metaphor, and Metamorphoses in The Chronicles of Narnia (Winged Lion Press, revised edition, 2013). Mark R. Hall, PhD, received his doctorate from the University of Tulsa, specializing in British literature. He has been an English Professor at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for over 25 years, teaching courses in Medieval, Romantic, and Victorian British literature, and C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, and science fiction. Playing a major role in the governance of the C. S. Lewis and Inklings Society (CSLIS) since 1998, Hall has served as the organization’s President and hosted the annual conferences in 1999, 2005, and 2011. His interests include science and science fiction in Lewis, as well as language and Arthurian elements in Tolkien. He was one of the editors of C. S. Lewis and the Inklings: Discovering Hidden Truth (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2012). He has recently been appointed as Dean of the College of Arts and Cultural Studies at Oral Roberts University.Jason Fisher is an independent scholar specializing in J. R. R. Tolkien and the Inklings. He edited Tolkien and the Study of His Sources (McFarland, 2011), which won the 2014 Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies. He was assistant editor, with Salwa Khoddam and Mark R. Hall, of C. S. Lewis and the Inklings: Discovering Hidden Truth (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2012). Fisher’s work has appeared in Tolkien Studies, Mythlore, Beyond Bree, The Journal of Inklings Studies, Sehnsucht, and other journals, books, and encyclopedias.
