Through Evolution
by Susan and Peter Barrett
Description
Waking from a long sleep, Mei finds himself in a very strange place. He overhears Chinese scientists wondering where exactly he belongs. But surely Mei can learn this for himself? He sets off on a helter-skelter journey backwards and forwards through time, searching for his rightful home. He comes face to face with the many curious and frightening creatures who inhabited the ever changing world through the millennia. Eventually he finds himself back where he started: curled up to sleep with his family and friends around him, safe at home in China. Mei’s real story: the 125-million year old fossil of a small, birdlike dinosaur was found in China in the 21st century and named Sleeping Dragon, Mei Long in Chinese. A double page glossary clarifies the facts about evolution that are the basis of the text and illustrations.
