Because of its particular characteristics for using regenerative forms of energy, the Stirling engine is more popular today than ever before. The book presents the thermodynamic basics for these machines as well as various methods of performing cyclic process calculations (ideal process and Schmidt analysis). This provides design guidelines for development of these engines. Measurements taken from a test engine are used to evaluate and discuss the results of the analysis methods which are presented. The book presents an interesting variation of low-temperature Stirling engines.
