Description
The history of theater is a journey through the history of literature, culture and art in its various manifestations, emotions, ideas and human societies, basic to understand the evolution of these from their origins to our days. Even the absence of the theater or its decline serve to portray a society. The theatrical heritage bequeathed by Spain forms part of (and constitutes a privileged manifestation of) this common history - we are basically referring to European and Western history - to which both the Greco-Roman heritage and the French, English or Italian theater belong, among others, to whom our scene owes so much and to whom we have also enriched so much with our dramatic literature. In accordance with what we have just said, this book aspires to be a reference tool for scholars and lovers of Spanish theater in general, from researchers specializing in the subject to university students, theater people and any educated person who wants to refresh knowledge or acquire it new. The author trusts that he has also written a text that can be read from start to finish as if it were a pleasant and exciting essay, not only attractive for its content, but also for its form.
