Made up of numerous independent stories that have only a brief narrative nucleus in common - the petals of a rose" that gradually fades as you read-, the novel postulates that the mysterious wind of "true existence" always threatens to slip "into the interstices of events", thus reminding us of the precariousness, the perishability, of the order that is shaped in our own gaze, only blessed by beauty and by the indispensable gift of mercy". Leopoldo Brizuela
Author Biography
He was born in Buenos Aires in 1931. Granddaughter of the famous Argentine naturalist and minister Ángel Gallardo, great-granddaughter of Miguel Cané and great-great-granddaughter of Bartolomé Mitre, the extensive library of her family home opened the doors of literature to her early on. January, his first novel, appeared in 1958 and received an excellent critical reception. It was followed by Pantalones azules (1963) and the extraordinary Los galgos, los galgos (1968), which consecrated it to the general public and with which he won the Municipal Prize. In addition to novels, she wrote children's literature and a book of short stories (El país del humo, 1977). She also collaborated with the magazines Primera Plana and Confirmado, among others, as well as with the newspaper La Nación. Eisejuaz (1971) confirmed her as an unparalleled voice, which also meant her relative marginality in the later canonical stories of Argentine literature, a circumstance that has been reversed in the last decade and a half thanks to the re-edition of a large part of her work. At the end of the seventies he left Argentina and started working as a correspondent in Europe. He died in Buenos Aires in 1988.
