I Don't Know If I Want a Puppy
a true story of inclusion and self-determination
by Jo Meserve Mach, Vera Lynne Stroup-Rentier, Mary Birdsell
Description
It seems like all boys want a puppy. But not Ethan! He’s happy playing with his cars. His older brothers have a different idea. They talk Mom and Dad into getting them a puppy. It’s a good thing that Ethan is around when they discover their idea didn’t work out the way they thought it would. ( Ethan was born with a congential heart deficit. He has a speech/language delay.)

The books are written by a team of educators and professionals who have combined years of experience in working with children with special needs; they launched the series to help increase the visibility of kids with disabilities in children’s books through authentic stories. Realistic, accessible, and uplifting, these books are an important resource not only for kids who have special needs but for broader audiences of children who can learn from the protagonists’’ strengths, challenges, and achievements. All books available in English and Spanish.
