Environmental Horticulture

Science and Management of Green Landscapes

by Ross Cameron, James Hitchmough

Description
Environmental horticulture - also referred to as landscape horticulture and amenity horticulture - is the umbrella term for the horticulture that we encounter in our daily lives. This includes parks, botanic gardens, sports facilities, landscape gardens, roundabouts, cemeteries, shopping centres - any public space which has grass, planting and trees. This book reflects contemporary thinking and is supported by scientific evidence to show the role, value and application of horticulture in the landscape. The discipline of environmental horticulture, its importance and impact on the wider environment is explored in the first part, whilst the second part covers practical horticultural management of different categories of environmental horticulture.
Endorsements

"In the urban era of today, the importance of horticulture has never been more essential. In the book Environmental Horticulture the authors give a much needed depth as well as broadness in the field of public horticulture whilst giving a clear view of its importance. The broad span of the scope includes plant perspective and green constructions such as green walls towards green space and well-being. The publication is well written and will be of great value for students as well as landscape professionals and horticulturists." - Henrik Sjöman, Scientific Curator at Gothenburg Botanic Garden/Lecturer at Swedish University of Agricultural Science
