      • Léo en petits morceaux

        by Mayana Itoïz

1967. Franz, a German soldier, returns to France to show his wife around Basque country. There, in the inn where he lived during the war 25 years earlier, he stumbles upon Léo! The unexpected encounter causes deeply-buried memories to resurface in the French woman's mind. During the Second World War, Léo was a waitress in the family inn, which had been requisitioned by German officers. She fell in love with Felix, a friend and fellow soldier of Franz. Although she wore the mask of indifference towards the occupier, Léo had a passionate affair with Felix. Mayana Itoïz's first graphic novel tells us with tenderness and sensitivity a very personal story, that of her grandmother who fell in love with a German soldier during the Second World War.

      • Blanc autour

        by Wilfrid Lupano, Stéphane Fert

Prudence Crandall runs a school for young girls. But one day, a black girl asks to enroll. All the other girls are white. Thus begins a battle between the “community” of Canterbury and the school. It’s a sensitive issue... The previous year in Virginia, a bloody slave revolt led by a certain Nat Turner sent shockwaves across the country. The group had massacred some sixty-odd white people in two days before being stopped. For the population of Canterbury, that’s what you get when negros are allowed to rise above their social status. This must not be allowed to happen! Supported by the abolitionists of the time, the school will become the first school exclusively for black girls in the United States. The standoff takes a federal turn when a law is voted that makes the school illegal in Connecticut.

        Don Vega

        by Pierre Alary

Madrid, 1848. A letter addressed to Don Vega from Father Delgado in California informs him of the deaths of his parents. The priest urges him to come, as his parents' land and the adjoining gold mines are now in the hands of the former General Borrow. California, 1849. A Mexican wearing a black mask heads to the church where Borrow’s son is being baptized. His goal is simple: kill the tyrant while drawing on the local myth of Zorro. But Borrow’s henchman Gomez is faster and takes him out. Eager to make a profit, Borrow plans to get his hands on the Mexicans’ land for a pittance, and then sell it at an exorbitant price. Anyone who is crazy enough to oppose him will be wiped out without hesitation. In a California in the throes of violence and injustice, the villagers make vain attempts to play the part of Zorro, a veritable local symbol of resistance, while they wait for the day when the real masked bringer of justice will come to save them.

        by Cédric Mayen, Sandra Cardona

An unlikely duo: an apprentice witch carrying the Devil in her backpack! The Bruja, the most powerful of witches, disappeared just after creating an elixir that could change the face of the world! Norah, her niece, a not-so-talented witch-in-training, decides to go looking for her. Meanwhile, locked in her manor, hungry and thirsty after waiting for several days, the demons that are Bruja's familiars attempt a ritual to summon forth a cornucopia--a "horn of plenty"--but by mistake call up...the Devil himself! They hadn't expected Norah to interrupt the ceremony. It's not just the ritual she cuts short, but the Prince of Shadows, too--leaving him in two pieces, condemned to remain on Earth as the prisoner of a pentacle. He quickly realizes that the only way to get his legs back and regain his throne is to find the five demons who guard the Gates of Hell. Norah agrees to help the Devil get around, on the condition that, in return, he helps her locate her aunt. This unlikely duo leaves on a mission, the Devil lugged about in Norah's backpack--the Master of Hell subservient to the will of a progressive, modern young woman.

      • Une Histoire du Velvet Underground

        by Prosperi Buri

In 1964, who would've thought that an encounter between a young New Yorker with addictive tendencies, Lou Reed, and a pedantic Welsh multi-instrumentalist, John Cale, would lead to the creation of the most scandalous and decadent rock band of our time! Throw in a soul-searching junkie on guitar and a friend's little sister on drums and what do you get? Velvet Underground! In less than a decade they go on to shake up all musical, artistic and cultural norms, influencing generations of musicians. Author Prosperi Buri paints a picture of those years of noise and fury, of heroin flowing through veins at the famous Cafe Bizarre, of Nico's mournful voice, of Andy Warhol's ethereal allure and of this group of inspired, megalomaniac, spectacular musicians.

While humanity was thought to be unable to survive on the surface, one of the robots - a Yojimbot - comes face to face with a survivor, a child, threatened by a heavily armed troop... Overcoming the basic rules of robotics by prioritizing one life over another, this Yojimbot will kill every member of the squad in order to save the child. Later, other robots will join the adventure to defend the little boy. They will quickly understand that protecting him is a priority: in his genes lies the salvation of humanity. But their powerful opponents are determined to make this proof of potential survival on the surface disappear...
