Emmy and the Black Hole That Stole Her Sock
by Zhao-He Watse Sybesma, Diego Cohen-Maldonado, Elly Dutton
Description
One night, Emmy's sock flies off her foot and out of her bedroom window! So begins a fascinating adventure. On her quest to get her sock back, Emmy meets stars and planets, before finally coming face to face with the thief who stole her sock: a black hole!
At the end of the book, curious readers can access four pages of information on the science behind black holes! It explains in simple terms what black holes are, what really happens to Emmy's sock and how come she is able to get it back again (although it is a little worse for wear).

Author Biography
Zhao-He Watse Sybesma was born in 1989 in the Netherlands. Currently he is an Iceland based theoretical physicist with a passion for sharing science with a broad audience. As black holes play an important role in his day-to-day research, he is especially excited about this book. When he is not doing science or writing, he enjoys lying in an Icelandic thermal bath or going on adventures with his daughter.
Diego Cohen-Maldonado was born in 1987 in Chile. He obtained his PhD degree in theoretical physics at the University of Amsterdam, where he especially stood out because of his skills of translating abstract concepts into clear (and often funny) cartoons. Whilst working outside of academia in Switzerland, he likes to continue to contribute to the scientific knowledge of others and himself through his drawings. On top of drawing, he enjoys reading and cycling.
